Statement of Operation

Friends of Vincent Irizarry (FOVI) is predominantly an Internet community of friends that shares an appreciation of the artistic work of Vincent Irizarry and an interest in furthering their friendship through acts of charity. It has been authorized by Vincent to represent him as his official fan organization.

FOVI’s mission is to develop programs and projects that will encourage friendship and good will:

   toward Vincent,

   among the members, and most especially,

   toward people in need.

It is the friendship toward those in need that best defines FOVI. The underlying intent in creating FOVI was to use the good will generated among fans of Vincent Irizarry for a greater, charitable purpose. It was because of this commitment to support works of charity that Vincent chose to designate FOVI his "official" fan club. This is the heart of Friends of Vincent Irizarry and the factor that makes it different from traditional fan clubs.

We show our friendship toward Vincent by attending his personal appearances and charity benefits. We write letters of support to producers, writers, publications and others who can have a positive influence on his career. We send personal greetings and remember him on holidays. We support him in polls.

The friendships among members are conducted both on-line and off, in the formation of smaller regional groups, or in groups that reflect special interests. Most importantly, FOVI encourages the talents of all members who want to participate in developing projects.

What Does FOVI Support?

FOVI supports charities in which Vincent has taken a personal interest and an active involvement. To date, these include Habitat for Humanity, Hope for New York, Midtown Pregnancy Support Center, City Harvest, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Family Crisis Center, Toys for Tots, Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund,  and the Angel Tree project of Prison Fellowship Ministries.

What Does FOVI Do?

FOVI raises funds nationally for charities supported by Vincent Irizarry, and it encourages local and regional participation in charity work that supports communities in need.

FOVI produces and manages official FOVI fan gatherings and other public events as benefits for charity.

FOVI advocates the artistic career of Vincent Irizarry through letters, participation in polls and other measures of interest in his work, attendance at personal appearances, purchase of entertainment products and other appropriate means.

FOVI encourages communication among fans of Vincent Irizarry through the operation of the official Vincent Irizarry Website and FOVIPals e-mail list.

FOVI will develop products related to Vincent Irizarry and/or his work to financially support FOVI activities.

Who Directs FOVI Programs?

FOVI differs from traditional fan clubs in its leadership, as well as in its guiding commitment to works of charity. There is no single FOVI "leader." It is an organization that accomplishes its goals through the collaborative efforts of its members. This allows us to make optimal use of talents and creative energies of all our members. 

Sandra Wetzel is the Director of FOVI and she has the responsibility for overall direction of this fan club. She provides leadership in developing FOVI’s programs for charity and all other facets of the fan club. 

Who Can Join FOVI?

Anyone who appreciates the artistic work of Vincent Irizarry and supports the concept of creating a caring and charitable community of friends can join Friends of Vincent Irizarry. A valid e-mail address is useful because most members are on-line and most information regarding Vincent and the activities of FOVI is forwarded through the official e-mail list, FOVIPals. A limited amount of material can be provided to off-line members.

There are no dues at this time; however, contributions to defray FOVI’s administrative and operating costs are gratefully accepted. FOVI and its activities are managed by volunteers who cover numerous expenses out-of-pocket. Your gift can help FOVI maintain a full schedule of activities.
